Getting ready

014 January 14th 2008

Tomorrow night after we have our apartment inspected, we will be going to pick up our new kittens. We are both very excited and spent the entire evening cleaning up in preparation. We went to Petsmart right after Kelly picked me up at work and spent way too much money. The new kitten zone in the house is going to be like a spa for them. We even got one of the water fountain things.

With all the effort getting things ready, I totally ran out of time to set up a photo for tonight, so please excuse this mediocre shot of the new cat carrier I got tonight.

Take out

Today we cleaned up the apartment for the shelter volunteer to come inspect us before we can get the kittens. Kelly made pasta for lunch and for dinner, as you can see, we ordered chinese food. I let Kelly play with the color balance on this one, I like it, and so should you.

Wii little turtle

012 January 12th 2008

Kelly had to work today, so I slothed around the apartment all day playing video games, it was great. Tonight we went over to our friends Megan & Gwen’s house for Wii and drinks, it was a blast, they made a great spread of fruit and cheese which was consumed in about two minutes.

They have two pet turtles that i took about thirty photos of, this is the one that came out best. It was a pretty uninspiring day for photos. I’m sure there will be many more of these to come through the course of this project.

FRIDAY!!!  Awesome, I survived the week, it was a long one, especially after the holiday break, I worked two days the week of Christmas and three days the week of New Years Eve, so five days in a row felt more like 2 weeks.

I had gone almost all day with no good shots, so around 10:45pm I though that an HDR of my kind of empty fridge would look cool.  As you can see, we keep mostly condiments and produce in the fridge, there is fruit in the bottom drawers too.

When I got home this evening my new comic had arrived, “World of Warcraft” #2 from Wildstorm Comics available here (yes I know, I’m a giant nerd, I am OK with that). The story is good so far and the artwork is top notch. I can’t wait for the next one to arrive in a few weeks.

In other news, today we applied to adopt a kitten, well two kittens, Evan and Wonder. Kelly saw the picture of Wonder (the blind kitty) and instantly fell in love. She sent the application to their foster parent tonight, I will be sure to report back if we end up adopting them.

Tonight when I was coming home from work Kelly called me because our apartment was full of paint fumes from one of the neighbors. So we grabbed the cat (so she wouldn’t have to breath the fumes) and headed to my friend Amanda’s house, where her, Eladio and Jessie invited us to have dinner. Good food, good friends and two dogs. Potus, the giant rotweiler and Peabo, the tiny but LOUD chihuahua.

Guess which one is in this picture.

Don't fence me in

008 January 8th 2008

The weather was AWESOME again today, sunny with a nice breeze all day and into the night. I swung by the apartment and picked Kelly up for lunch. We went to Pho 75 right by my office in Rosslyn.

I took at least 50 pictures throughout the day, all crap. So after going through them all tonight I decided to see if I could get some decent shots at the bridge over 395 near my apartment. As you can see, it would have been a really cool shot, if not for the stupid fence.

Busy Mondays

007 January 7th 2008

Today was Monday. It was a very busy day at work today, I continued my work updating the website, hopefully we will be done by the middle of the week. Overall the day was very uneventful. Also today was amazingly 64 degrees and sunny outside, I mean wtf is that about! It was 23 degrees last week. The weather in Virginia is always very sporadic.

I got this shot at lunch at the fire house on Wilson Blvd.

Old Town

006 Janary 6th 2008

Today was your typical lazy sunday, we woke up some time in the afternoon, slummed around the house and then decided to go to Old Town Alexandria and walk around. I got this and a couple other pretty decent shots there tonight. Check them out HERE.

Yay for Saturdays

005 January 5th 2008

Today was one of those perfect semi-lazy saturdays. I woke up around 10:45 in the morning, made coffee and slothed around for a couple hours. Then cleaned up around the house (it was still dirty from when we had people over for new years eve). Kelly left for work around 4:30 and from then on it was pure me time.

You would think that after a three day work week I wouldn’t be so excited about it being the weekend, but it was a very busy three days and next week should be even busier so I am going to make the most of this one.

This photo was taken late in the afternoon from the window in my bedroom. It might look nice but it was 38 degrees outside. If it had been warmer I might have been more adventurous.
